Welcome to the new DYC website. This site is still being tested so please be patient whilst we iron out any issues and make improvements.

The Dar es Salaam Yacht Club was founded in 1933 on the waters’ edge in the Harbour by some keen sailing Members of the then Dar es Salaam Club (now the Forodhani Hotel on Kivukoni Front). From a purely sailing Club it acquired the Power Boat section and then the Diving Section which was originally a branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club. The Yacht Club remained in the harbour until 1967 when it moved to the present site of Leopard’s Cove in Msasani Bay. As a result of this move to the clean waters of the Bay, swimming became a desirable activity at the Club. |

As well as the other pieces of information supplied, this sheet is for the benefit of visiting yachts and is designed to answer many of the questions that naturally arise from newcomers to the Club. We trust that it will assist you to avoid some of our local pitfalls and to have an even more enjoyable stay with us here at the DYC.
